  North Wales colleges and universities to unite in webinar discussing free apprenticeships A webinar  January intake  in the uk  at Wales colleges and universities on 17 November will see the discussion of free digital and manufacturing apprenticeships. Bangor and Wrexham Glyndŵr universities, Coleg Cambria, Grwp Llandrillo Menai and The Open University (OU) will all be present. Places are available from January onwards with partners including Welsh Water, Cartrefi Cymru, Airbus and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board which will bring education into the workplace as well as a ‘hands-on’ experience for learners. Presented by David Roberts, chair of North Wales Regional Skills Partnership, employers are encouraged to attend the virtual event and upskill employees in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.   He said: “The webinar is a platform to inform businesses and anyone looking to retrain or progress in their current role about the opportunities that are out there.

Higher education: new national restrictions guidance

     Read this guidance to find out how the new national restrictions affect the Higher Education (HE) sector. It should be read in conjunction with Reopening buildings and campuses, which sets out how HE providers can minimise risks during coronavirus (COVID-19).   Stay at home Under the new national restrictions from 5 November, the government will be requiring everyone to stay at their current home, except for specific purposes. This means students should not leave their term-time address to return home between 5 November and 2 December. We are asking students to remain at university and not to travel home before Thursday 5 November, to allow all students who are able to, to benefit from face-to-face teaching and COVID-secure educational facilities, and to prevent the increased risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19). We all have a responsibility, and all our actions affect the lives of others. This is in keeping with the current restrictions on moving between their permanent home

  Student support services including mental health support, careers advice, and study skills will be delivered in a mixture of online and in-person, while five institutions said they would be available online. Additionally, 82% of the universities surveyed said they are working with bars and cafes in the local community as they develop their plans. “Following the latest health guidelines, universities are continuing to develop detailed plans for the new academic year and will be regularly updating new and returning students over the coming weeks,” Jarvis added.
